To improve the quality of life for individuals and organizations affected by disability and poverty.

This will be accomplished through:

  • Providing workshops and seminars on life skills, employment, education/training.
  • Providing access to resources for employment, training, mental health, basic needs, and education.
  • Developing Programing for goals setting and objective realization.
  • Creating mentorship programs that provide positive direction.
  • Providing case management services.
  • Providing advocacy services.
  • Assisting clients to realize their full potential.

Our Global Humanity (OGH) was founded in Los Angeles County, California to fill the gap for those in need regarding knowledge of available resources and access to available resources. With social service agencies overwhelmed and restrictions on participation stringent, OGH was designed to reach out to the underserved who through no fault of their own have fallen through the cracks.

The focus is primarily upon situations that require assistance and a plan that has been unavailable from traditional sources. All workshops, seminars, mentorship, and referrals will be with the intent of returning power and control to the client and to reduce or eliminate the sense of powerlessness. Powerlessness repels opportunities, crushes hope, challenges faith, and can affect all areas of a persons’ life.   Taking control with a plan of action and the steps necessary to achieve the plan restores power. This becomes a magnet for opportunities, restores hope, ignites faith, and impacts all aspects of the individual’s life.

The intent of OGH is to build relationships with current sources and resources but in addition, to develop non-traditional sources of assistance. Food stamps and food banks were created to provide for the physical well-being of individuals and families. However, every effort will be made to secure gift certificates from private donors, to enable food and various every day necessities for the individual or families.

OGH will investigate and implement additional resources to address daily food and living necessities. Focus will be upon creating nutritional, economical, and well-prepared meals that fall within the budget of the family.

OGH through volunteers and mentors will create an individualized plan for each participating family. The life skills seminars and workshops will share information, tips, and tools to impact and improve individual

/family quality of life. The Individualized Program Plan (IPP) will be created and used to assist the clients in creating goals and achieving them. This process will also allow the families and the mentors to make adjustments and mid-course corrections as needed during the process. The process will also indicate when additional resources are needed.

OGH clients will be provided with job acquisition tools such as resume’s, interview clothing, interviewing skills, and references. OGH will take this process even further in teaching job retention skills. Problems that may occur in the employment process will be addressed in the frequent meetings and communication between the mentors, case managers, and clients. Where and if training or additional training/edu

cation is required, this will be addressed and a plan will be developed on the IPP.

A mentoring group will be created to provide individual attention and direction. Many of these mentors will be families and individuals who have overcome obstacles and challenges in the past and are paying it forward. This type of support goes beyond simple case management activities but hopefully will serve the same purpose and provide the same forward progress as sponsors provide in AA.

It well documented currently on all types of reality programs that easy fixes can occur whether it is financial, in relationships, leadership, business, physical fitness/weight loss, etc.   However just as well documented is the facts that in far too many instances people fall back into the bad and old habits, and behaviors that created the problems in the first place. The process is designed to enable participants to identify the real and underlying causes of the challenges that they are experiencing. With this intensive interaction, the goal is to address set-backs and challenges head-on in a timely manner. The interaction also provides the teaching tools for the clients as to how to address every day challenges, and acts as a buffer against avoidance.

The individualized approach will allow for the development of a menu of services and programs that will that are tailored to the specific needs of the clients.

Meetings will be held monthly between program staff, case managers, and mentors to assess and evaluate the progress of the clients to determine if any additional resources are required. OGH will also, through community interaction, add to the available resources.
