Kenneth Miller is no stranger to selflessly serving underserved communities. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Miller has been a veteran journalist for over four decades. He has held prominent positions such as Managing Editor, Sports Editor, and Entertainment Editor simultaneously at the Los Angeles Sentinel. Additionally, he has served as President of the Cleveland Call & Post and Publisher of the Inglewood Today weekly publications.
Miller’s dedication extends beyond journalism. As the founder and director of the prestigious Collision All-Star basketball games, he has been instrumental in honoring student-athletes of all cultures for more than 20 years. His commitment to recognizing and uplifting young talent has made a significant impact on countless lives.
While in Cleveland, Miller was appointed by County Executive Armond Budish to serve on the Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (CAC) Board of Trustees. Cuyahoga Arts & Culture is one of the largest public funders for arts and culture in the nation, helping hundreds of organizations in Cuyahoga County connect millions of people to cultural experiences each year. Since its inception in 2007, CAC has invested over $158 million in 350 organizations, both large and small, making the community a more vibrant place to live, work, and play.
A proud graduate of John C. Fremont High School in Los Angeles, where he is a member of the Hall of Fame, Kenneth Miller has made significant contributions to his community. He is the founder of Our Global Humanity, an organization dedicated to helping individuals better their lives. Through Our Global Humanity, Miller has made it his life’s mission to foster positive change and provide support to those in need.

Demaris Washington, PhD
Board Member
Dr. Demaris Washington, Ph.D., earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology in 2009 from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Washington is dedicated to promoting psychological and emotional wellness through therapeutic interventions for multicultural and underserved populations. Her extensive experience includes working with youth, adults, and families in various settings, such as the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and inpatient psychiatric facilities.
Currently, Dr. Washington serves as the Center Director of Starview Community Services, where she oversees several critical programs, including the Full-Service Partnership, Multidisciplinary Assessment Team, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP) therapy program. Her commitment to improving the lives of children and families with mental health issues is evident in her comprehensive approach and dedication to her work.
In addition to her role at Starview Community Services, Dr. Washington is an adjunct professor of psychology at National University. She teaches courses on African American Psychology, Group Therapy, and Evidence-Based Practices in Psychology, sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with her students.
Dr. Washington’s interests encompass academic success and performance, the impact of trauma and violence on success, and the stigma of mental illness in multicultural populations. Her scholarly work includes her dissertation on “The Effects of Motivation, Hopelessness, and Exposure to Violence on Academic Achievement” and her thesis on “Effects of Racial Discrimination and Stigma on African Americans’ Satisfaction with Mental Health Services.” Through her research, Dr. Washington has contributed valuable insights into these critical areas, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing the field of psychology.

Kimberly Miller
Secretary
Kimberly has dedicated over 25 years to the Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department, serving as a Child Support Specialist. Throughout her tenure, she has been recognized for her excellent work and dedication, receiving three Performance Excellence awards and commendations from the Director. Kimberly’s primary focus has been on serving and assisting families with child support, helping mothers secure the necessary support for their children.
In addition to her role as a Child Support Specialist, Kimberly has served as a Notary Public for the Child Support Department for the past 25 years. She finds great satisfaction in assisting mothers to ensure they receive the support they need to care for their children.
Kimberly obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Sociology from California State University, Dominguez Hills, in May 1994. Her educational background has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the social issues affecting families, enhancing her ability to serve her community effectively.
Kimberly has also been actively involved in several outreach programs for Child Support Services. She has taken the initiative to go out into the community, educating mothers and fathers about the services available to them. Her goal is to help families obtain the support they need to enrich the lives of their children.
Currently, Kimberly is expanding her skills by working as an acting Paralegal, assisting Staff Attorneys in Probate and Trust while pursuing her Paralegal Certificate. This role allows her to provide additional support within the legal framework, furthering her commitment to helping families.
In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys walking, traveling, and, most importantly, spending time with her family. She looks forward to continuing her work with Our Global Humanity, serving and supporting her community with the same dedication and passion that has defined her career. Her unwavering commitment to assisting families and her extensive experience make her a valuable asset to the organization.
Kristi Minor
Treasurer
Kristi Minor has dedicated over 20 years to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a Human Resource Analyst. In this role, she has demonstrated her ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively to meet deadlines. Known for her reliability and hard work, Kristi is a team player who collaborates with management to achieve departmental objectives.
Kristi obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, Dominguez Hills, in May 1995. Her academic background in accounting has provided her with a strong foundation in financial and organizational management, which she leverages in her role as a Human Resource Analyst.
Her commitment to helping families in need drives her professional and personal endeavors. Kristi loves serving her church, where she actively participates in various community service initiatives. In addition, she enjoys reading and traveling, activities that broaden her perspective and enrich her life.
Kristi looks forward to continuing her work with Our Global Humanity, where she aims to extend her passion for service and support to the broader community. Her extensive experience in human resources, coupled with her dedication to helping others, makes her a valuable asset to the organization.
